2027 marketing calendar: US holidays & campaign ideas

By · Published · 22 min read

On February 14, 2027, a restaurant could serve Valentine's dinners and football takeout from the same kitchen. Valentine's Day and Super Bowl Sunday share a date, so the owner needs separate offers and a realistic plan for both. Easter arrives in March, and Hanukkah begins on Christmas Eve. Those details belong in your campaign plan before you book photography or approve an ad.

This 2027 marketing calendar covers selected US holidays, monthly campaign ideas and suggested preparation windows, with a free template for Google Sheets or Excel. Choose the moments that suit your customers, then work backward from launch: confirm the offer, prepare the landing page and finish the ads before you need them. Adjust our suggested preparation windows to your production, approval and delivery lead times.

2027 dates worth flagging now

  • February 6–15: Lunar New Year, Mardi Gras, Valentine's Day, the Super Bowl and Presidents' Day all land within ten days.
  • February 14: Valentine's Day and Super Bowl LXI share a Sunday. Prepare separate messages if you serve both audiences.
  • March 28: Western Easter falls in March. An April Easter campaign would arrive late.
  • November 25–30: Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday and GivingTuesday fit into six days.
  • December 24: Hanukkah begins at sundown on Christmas Eve. Prepare your gift guide and fulfillment deadlines ahead of both occasions.
  • June, July and December: distinguish the celebration date from the federal observed holiday when you plan hours, support and approvals.

2027 long weekends and observed holidays

Three-day federal weekends change when people travel, shop, book and read email. Private employers set their own schedules, so treat these as planning flags rather than guaranteed days off for your customers or your team.

Three-day weekends for a typical Monday–Friday federal work schedule, based on OPM's observed holidays. Private business schedules vary.

January 2027: give the fresh start a concrete offer

Key dates: New Year's Day, Friday, January 1; Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, January 18.

A January campaign needs a useful first step. A fitness studio can invite beginners to an introductory class. A software company can offer a template that helps a team organize its first month. A home retailer can show one storage solution in use.

Choose a clear action and explain what the customer gets: the length of the class, what's inside the template or the dimensions of the product. “Start your first week with a plan” gives you more to show than a generic “New year, new you” headline.

Prepare in December 2026: confirm your landing page, January availability and the person who will answer inquiries during the break. Keep MLK Day communications relevant to service, education or a real community commitment.

February 2027: plan for two audiences on February 14

Key dates: Lunar New Year, Saturday, February 6; Mardi Gras, Tuesday, February 9; Valentine's Day and Super Bowl Sunday, February 14; Presidents' Day, Monday, February 15. The federal holiday's official name is Washington's Birthday.

For a restaurant, February 14 could mean a dinner booking and a takeout order for a football gathering. Build two campaigns with different menus, images and destinations. Check capacity before you sell both offers. A shared date does not mean customers want a combined message.

Because Easter is early, Mardi Gras lands on February 9, just five days before Valentine's Day. Bakeries, bars and party-supply shops that sell king cakes, costumes or themed menus will be producing for two holidays in the same week.

For gift retailers, choose a recipient or price range, then add a delivery or pickup deadline you can meet. If Lunar New Year matters to your audience, work with people who understand the community's traditions and preferences.

Prepare in early January: agree on audience, offer and order limits before the designer starts. The NFL's schedule confirms the game date. Recheck event details before launch.

1883 Prang's Valentine Cards advertisement with an illustrated woman, cherubs and the product name on a ribbon

Valentine's example: make the occasion and product recognizable. This 1883 US advertisement names the card collection in a ribbon that belongs to the illustration. For a modern campaign, pair one seasonal visual with a clear product name. Add your own offer and deadline where customers can read them.

March 2027: move Easter work forward

Key dates: International Women's Day, Monday, March 8; St. Patrick's Day, Wednesday, March 17; Western Easter, Sunday, March 28.

Easter arrives in March in 2027, with Good Friday on March 26, so gift sets, bakery preorders, family activities and spring displays need an earlier production slot than an April campaign. The US Naval Observatory's calendar confirms the date.

A bakery could advertise a specific preorder box with an order deadline and collection window. Use a second ad after the deadline to promote the products customers can still collect. Keep the two versions ready so the first offer stops when orders close.

For International Women's Day, introduce the people behind a relevant product or share the work your company supports. Use a direct, factual message. Prepare in February: confirm packaging, stock and the last date you can accept an order.

Easter example: connect the seasonal theme to what you sell. Louis Rhead's poster for Prang's Easter publications, circa 1895, uses lilies and prominent lettering to identify the occasion. A bakery or gift shop can apply that hierarchy: show the actual product, name the seasonal collection and give the customer a clear way to order.

April 2027: make specific claims and prepare May gifts

Key date: Earth Day, Thursday, April 22. Mother's Day follows on May 9.

A repair service, refill shop or resale business can show what a customer can do differently: repair a jacket, refill a container or buy a refurbished desk. Describe the actual service and its terms. If you mention an environmental benefit, use a claim you can substantiate and explain its scope.

“Refill this bottle in store” gives the customer a concrete action. Broad labels such as “planet-friendly” need more explanation than a banner can provide.

Prepare during March: gather product details and approve the copy. Use April to finish Mother's Day gift images, preorder pages and booking offers, especially if you sell personalized products with longer lead times.

May 2027: separate gifts from long-weekend promotions

Key dates: Cinco de Mayo, Wednesday, May 5; Mother's Day, Sunday, May 9; Memorial Day, Monday, May 31.

These dates suit different businesses. A restaurant with a relevant menu can plan a May 5 event. A florist or spa needs a Mother's Day gift or reservation campaign. A garden or furniture retailer may choose a long-weekend offer later in the month.

For Mother's Day, organize choices around how the customer buys: a gift under a certain amount, a shared experience or local pickup. State the last order date beside the offer. Give subscribers an easy way to opt out of Mother's Day messages if the occasion is difficult for them.

Prepare in March or April: approve separate briefs for the campaigns you choose. Keep Memorial Day's commemorative meaning in mind when deciding whether and how your brand should participate.

June 2027: put gifting and holiday operations on separate lines

Key dates: Juneteenth, Saturday, June 19, with the federal observed holiday on Friday, June 18; Father's Day, Sunday, June 20.

A Father's Day campaign can help shoppers choose by interest: cooking, gardening, reading or a shared activity. A useful product photo and a clear collection date can do more for a local store than a generic “gifts for him” collage.

Plan Juneteenth communications around a relevant community connection, education or an existing commitment. Keep that work distinct from the adjacent Father's Day offer. The calendar is also a reminder to check support coverage, supplier availability and approvals around the observed holiday.

Prepare in May: photograph or collect the gift products, confirm inventory and finish a pickup version of your ad for customers who miss the delivery deadline.

July 2027: distinguish July 4 from the observed holiday

Key dates: Independence Day, Sunday, July 4; the federal observed holiday, Monday, July 5.

A summer campaign can focus on outdoor meals, travel preparation, events or a product your customers use in warm weather. Give the offer a real start and end. “Order the picnic bundle by July 2” helps someone decide whether they can use it that weekend.

Use July 4 for the celebration and your actual business schedule for opening hours and fulfillment. The federal observed holiday does not determine whether a private business opens. Confirm your own arrangements before you put hours in an ad.

Prepare in June: approve the offer, verify stock and set the stop time in the campaign's time zone. Add retailer-led sale dates to your plan when the organizer confirms them; leave flexible space until then.

August 2027: use local school dates for back-to-school

Planning window: back-to-school season, with timing that varies by district and customer group.

A national “school starts Monday” message can be wrong for part of your audience. Check the districts you serve and adjust the launch date. A tutoring service may need a parent inquiry several weeks ahead; a local shop might focus on the last days before classes.

Choose one practical need: a packed-lunch bundle, desk setup, first tutoring session or classroom supply pickup. Show what the customer gets and the next step. For college audiences, replace the school-parent angle with move-in, supplies or a student-specific offer whose eligibility you can explain.

Prepare in June or July: gather local dates, choose regional audiences and create the necessary versions. The CSV leaves this season's event date blank so you can enter your own.

September 2027: run the fall campaign and approve Q4

Key date: Labor Day, Monday, September 6.

A home retailer might promote the last items in a summer collection. A local service business could offer a fall appointment window. A B2B team can publish a planning resource that helps customers prepare for the next quarter.

Give holiday production its own calendar entry this month. Decide which products and offers you intend to support in November, who signs off the terms and whether you need new photography. Review last year's results at the product and audience level before repeating a discount.

Prepare the Labor Day campaign in July or August. During September, agree on holiday concepts, landing-page ownership and a production schedule. Keep capacity for revisions and platform review rather than scheduling delivery on launch day.

October 2027: test the message before November

Key dates: Columbus Day, Monday, October 11; Halloween, Sunday, October 31. Check local and employer schedules around October 11. This is also a suggested production month for November campaigns.

A Halloween offer works when the product, event or experience fits: a bakery collection, a family activity or a bookshop event. Give customers the date, location and booking instructions. A business without that connection can use October to focus on its own fall offer.

For holiday advertising, test a small number of distinct ideas while you still have time to learn. Compare a product-led message with a bundle or benefit-led message, keeping other factors as consistent as you can. Our guide to A/B testing display ad creatives explains how to structure the comparison.

Prepare in September: complete Halloween assets and approve November offer terms. By the end of October, aim to have your launch, reminder and final-day holiday versions ready.

November 2027: schedule each offer change

Key dates: Veterans Day, Thursday, November 11; Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 25; Black Friday, November 26; Small Business Saturday, November 27; Cyber Monday, November 29; GivingTuesday, November 30.

November's production problem is the sequence. An early-access offer, a weekend offer and a Monday offer may need different copy, terms and destinations. Assign a person and an exact changeover time to each version. If the same audience sees your ads from early November through Cyber Monday, prepare a fresh version for the final days; our guide to ad creative fatigue explains the warning signs.

A small retailer can choose one weekend offer and a local pickup message for Saturday. A software business could run one annual-plan campaign across the period and explain its deadline. Participation in each named day is optional; the useful campaign is the one your team can fulfill.

GivingTuesday suits a genuine fundraising or community initiative with clear details about the recipient and what your contribution means. It needs its own message, rather than an unexplained discount badge.

Prepare in September and October: approve the full sequence, check prices on the landing pages and schedule the end of each offer. Our Black Friday creative guide, currently illustrated for 2026, provides layout ideas; use the 2027 dates here for next year's schedule.

Black Friday and the following shopping days are placed relative to Thanksgiving. In 2027 that gives November 26, 27 and 29; GivingTuesday follows on November 30. These dates do not prescribe when a retailer must start its promotion.

Black Friday example: keep the message readable at a glance. This sign uses three large words and strong contrast. It names the event but leaves the actual offer to the store. For a display ad, add the product or deal and a clear destination. The photograph shows a shop in the Netherlands and serves as a signage design reference.

December 2027: prepare the next message before the deadline

Key dates: Hanukkah, from sundown Friday, December 24, to nightfall Saturday, January 1, 2028; Christmas Day, Saturday, December 25, with the federal observed holiday on Friday, December 24; Kwanzaa begins Sunday, December 26; New Year's Eve, Friday, December 31.

Build a sequence around what customers can still get. Start with gifts, switch to verified delivery deadlines, then promote pickup or digital gifts if you offer them. Remove a shipping promise as soon as the cutoff passes. Delivery cutoffs depend on your carrier, service, location and processing time; enter those dates after you verify them.

Hanukkah overlaps Christmas this year. A broad “holiday gifts” message can serve both, but a Hanukkah-specific gift guide needs to be live before December 24, not after Christmas.

Have an after-Christmas message ready before the break. A gift-card guide, complementary product or useful January purchase can give recent customers a reason to return. Google's US post-holiday research discusses the shift toward shopping for oneself after December 25.

Prepare in October and November: write each stage's copy, assign a holiday contact and schedule the changes. Also check December 31 staffing: it is the federal observed holiday for New Year's Day 2028. The Christmas creative ideas guide, currently for 2026, offers concepts you can adapt after verifying your 2027 details, and the Christmas ad examples for Google and Meta show finished banner layouts.

Choose the campaigns that suit your business

Start with customer behavior, your capacity and the margin you need. A calendar date can help you choose when to communicate. Your offer still needs to answer a real need.

Ecommerce

Choose events that fit your products, then connect the gift guide, ad and product page. Track stock and contribution margin. Prepare a replacement message for when a product sells out or shipping closes.

Local businesses

Plan around reservations, collection times, service areas and staffing. A booking deadline or appointment slot can be more useful than a broad discount. Give customers your actual local hours.

B2B and SaaS

Include customer budget cycles, renewals, events and launches. Offer a useful resource, product walkthrough or concrete plan for a problem. Use retail dates when they fit your buying process.

For a small team, a workable first draft might contain one main campaign per quarter plus a few smaller updates. Treat that as a capacity choice. Add more only when you can support the offer, respond to customers and review the results.

A four-week campaign preparation plan

Use this as a starting workflow for a small campaign. Personalized products, new photography, partner approvals and longer sales cycles can need more time. Work backward from your intended launch, then add your actual delivery and approval constraints.

  1. Four weeks before launch: approve the offer. Name the audience, product or service, price, eligibility, deadline and desired action. Give one person responsibility for resolving changes.
  2. Three weeks before: finish the destination. Build or update the landing page, check stock or appointment capacity and confirm that the promised offer appears there. Prepare your main image and copy.
  3. Two weeks before: produce the placement versions. Make the Google Display and Meta formats you actually plan to use. Check headline readability, product cropping and the logo in each shape. Use the Google Display sizes guide and Meta image sizes guide as starting references, then recheck platform requirements before your 2027 upload. For layout ideas, browse our Google Display ad examples and Facebook ad examples.
  4. One week before: review and schedule. Check links, mobile booking or checkout, tracking, terms, time zones and the offer's end time. Leave room for the platform's review process and corrections; the common reasons Google Ads disapproves banners are worth checking before you upload.

After launch: check that people reach the right page and can complete the intended action. At the deadline, stop the expired message and switch to the next approved version. Reserve time after the campaign to record what you learned.

Turn a calendar entry into an ad brief

Before you ask for a design, write down the customer, offer, date and destination. The three examples below show how the same calendar can lead to different campaigns. Each uses sample copy for a fictional business.

FEB 14 · LOCAL DINING

A table for two, lunch included

A Valentine's lunch booking for a restaurant that reserves its evening capacity for a separate football takeout offer.

CTA: Reserve lunch

Destination: the lunch menu and available tables.

MAR 28 · EASTER PREORDERS

Your Easter box, ready to collect

A bakery's six-pastry box with a verified order cutoff and a clearly stated collection window.

CTA: Preorder your box

Destination: the product, collection terms and checkout.

NOV 26 · SOFTWARE

Plan next year's projects in one place

A software team's annual-plan offer, with the actual price and renewal terms on the landing page.

CTA: Compare plans

Destination: the relevant pricing page.

When the brief is approved, you can paste your landing-page URL or describe the campaign in AdflowKit, review the brief and create the banner versions you need. Edit the headline, CTA, colors and logo before export. Keep launch dates and campaign scheduling in your planner and advertising accounts.

A prompt for the bakery example could read:

Create a spring bakery campaign for Easter on March 28, 2027.
Audience: local customers ordering a pastry box for collection.
Headline: "Your Easter box, ready to collect".
CTA: "Preorder your box".
Show a neat pastry box on a light table with subtle spring colors.
Use our actual logo and product details. Keep the headline readable
in the Google Display and Meta placements we select.
Add the collection window only after our team confirms it.

The AI banner prompt guide explains how to turn a rough campaign idea into a more specific visual brief, and the on-brand AI banner checklist covers your logo, colors and fonts.

Measure results and keep useful notes

Add a primary result to each campaign row: a completed order, a qualified inquiry, a booking or a trial start. Record spend and the value of those outcomes where you can. Clicks alone do not tell you whether an offer was worth repeating.

For ecommerce, review margin after the discount, returns and fulfillment costs. For appointments, compare inquiries with bookings and attendance. For B2B, follow leads far enough to understand their quality. Keep the attribution method consistent when you compare periods.

Save the winning message alongside the result, audience and dates. Also note anything that distorted the comparison, such as a stockout or a change in spend. Those notes help next year's team decide which campaign deserves another production slot.

2027 marketing calendar FAQ

What should a marketing calendar include?

Include the campaign's audience, offer, launch and end dates, preparation deadlines, owner, channel, landing page, budget and primary result. Add holidays only when they help you plan a relevant campaign or manage operations.

When should I start planning 2027 campaigns?

You can prepare the annual outline in late 2026, then review the next quarter as plans become more concrete. For individual campaigns, use your product, creative and approval lead times. Our four-week workflow is a suggested starting point, not a universal deadline.

Are Valentine's Day and the Super Bowl on the same day in 2027?

Yes. Both fall on Sunday, February 14, 2027. If your business serves both occasions, plan the audience, offer, capacity and destination for each campaign.

When is Black Friday 2027?

Black Friday is Friday, November 26, 2027, the day after Thanksgiving on November 25. Small Business Saturday follows on November 27, Cyber Monday on November 29 and GivingTuesday on November 30.

When is Easter 2027?

Western Easter is Sunday, March 28, 2027. Good Friday is March 26 and Ash Wednesday is February 10, which puts Mardi Gras on Tuesday, February 9.

What are the long weekends in 2027?

For a typical Monday–Friday federal schedule, 2027 starts with a January 1–3 long weekend. Other three-day breaks include MLK Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth observed, Independence Day observed, Labor Day, Columbus Day and Christmas observed. The December 31–January 2 weekend spans 2027 and 2028. See the full date table and check your employer's schedule.

What is the difference between a holiday and its observed date?

The celebration and federal day off can fall on different dates. For 2027, Juneteenth falls on June 19 with federal observation on June 18; Independence Day falls on July 4 with observation on July 5; Christmas falls on December 25 with observation on December 24. Check your own business and partner schedules.

Can I use this template in Google Sheets or Excel?

Yes. Download the CSV above. In Google Sheets, choose File → Import → Upload. In Excel, open the CSV or use Data → From Text/CSV. Keep the date columns in YYYY-MM-DD format when sorting or sharing the file.

Should I advertise on every holiday?

Choose the occasions that fit your audience, offer and operating capacity. Leave unrelated dates out of your paid plan. Some observances call for education or community participation rather than a sales promotion.
